What is CBD?

The amount of people using CBD is continuously increasing day by day and with the expected number of users to be around 1.6million currently in the UK, the amount of products available on the market is extensive. We're here to help guide you through and answer any questions you may have.

Important fact first! CBD has an extremely good safety profile with very low toxicology reports - and all of the research undertaken so far supports this.

What is CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol, is the second most prevalent active ingredient in cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived from the hemp plant, which is the cousin of marijuana, or manufactured in a laboratory. One of hundreds of components in marijuana, CBD does not cause a high by itself.

CBD is most commonly used to treat chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, and insomnia. One study showed that CBD may relieve pain by affecting receptors of the endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate pain, mood, and memory, in addition to many other physiological and cognitive functions.

What is CBG?

CBG or cannabigerol is a cannabinoid compound found in the young hemp/cannabis plant. Producing CBD takes around 20 times less plant matter than making the same amount of CBG.

As the plant matures CBG acts as a stem cell that produces all the other well-known cannabinoids like THC and CBD that are found in a mature plant ready to be harvested.

CBG does not cause a high by itself however it can produce a mild cognitive effect similar to delta 8 THC. You may feel more in-tune or focused on whatever you’re working on without overstimulating your brain too much. That’s why CBG has become the next big thing to boost concentration.

The two main ways to obtain CBG for our consumption are by harvesting hemp when it is still young or by breeding strains of the plant that have naturally occurring high levels of CBG in them.

CBG is new to the market and therefore research on this is not as extensive as CBD currently, however is it believed that CBG may help reduce inflammation and along with other current findings can also help with appetite loss and bacterial infections.

How much to use?

Everybody is different and therefore the amount to use depends on how your body reacts and accepts the products. We always recommend starting at a small amount and then increasing slowly if needed until your side effects subside. The good news is that you cannot overdose on CBD or CBG and therefore you are free to use the products as freely as needed.
